Arsikere

Arsikere is a city and taluk in Hassan district in the Karnataka state of India. This region is known for its coconut production and is also called as Kalpataru Nadu. Arsikere is the taluk headquarters, a major railway junction on the South Western Railway which links Mangalore and Mysore to North Karnataka and a central place for tourists who visit nearby places that do not have rail access, such as Beluru and Halebidu.The name Arsikere originates from one of the princesses of the Hoysala Dynasty, who built a lake (kere in Kannada) near the town. Arasi means queen in Kannada. Therefore, it is 'Arasiya+kere' which means "queen's pond". Arsikere was also called Udbhava Sarvajna Vijaya and Ballalapura at various times.

Places of interest include Chikka Tirupati, The Nagapuri forest, A state branch of the Kastur Ba Gandhi National Memorial Trust, Shivalaya, Shree Jenukal Siddeshwara Swamy Betta,etc.

History of our Club: Founder and first President of our Inner Wheel Club of Arsikere is Smt. Shantha Shankar 1972.

Started with 12 charter members: Shanta Shankar, Uma Ramaswamy, Madhavi Bhat, Vimala Rao, Indira Renuka Nath, Sathyabama V shetty, Saraswati N Shetty, Shanthamma R Shetty, Rangalakshmamma S Shetty, Ratnamma Onkarayya, Kousalya Kumar, Sarala Nagraj

• In 1991-92 under the Presidentship of Amita Prabhakar, repaired the Kamala High School and constructed a new building at the cost of 12 lakh in 2000-01 under the presidentship of Indiramma
• In the year 1983-84 under the presidentship of Shantamma R Shetty an Intercity meet was hosted.
• In the year 1987-88 under the presidentship of Sarala NagaRaj the District assembly was hosted.
• In the year 1999-2000 under the presidentship of Lakshmi Timmaraju conducted Rally Zone Kalpavriksha and the chief guest being Rotary president Sir K S Vishwanath

50 members attended the rally and the function was a grand success, the welcome with poornakumbha to the guests at the rally is a special mention.

• In the year 2013-14 under the presidentship of Annalakshmi hosted the District Rally on 29th September 2013
• In the year 2015-16 under the presidentship of Lata Sarvesh, District ISO meet 'Arasi' was hosted on August 23rd at MaleKallu Tirupati,
• Our club has won 11 awards in the year 2015-16 under the presidentship of Lata Sarvesh and two special awards for hosting district ISO Meet and for sponsoring 16 girl children in the Asha Kirana project.
