Our beautiful city is difficult to describe in a paragraph... Called the land of sandalwood, it is also famous for its rich silks, gardens, historic temples, engineering marvels, rich heritage, museums, hospitals, dams, markets, as also for the world famous Dasara festival, it's seven palaces, the zoo, lakes across the city, Chamundi hill, the river Kaveri nearby, a lot of open spaces with native trees and a variety of birds and other fauna. Its pleasant weather throughout the year is an added attraction. During historical times, the city was ruled by the Ganga, Chola, Chalukya, Hoysala and Yadu dynasties, the Nizams and the British. The town planning by HH Sri Nalwadi Krishnadevaraya is something we are very proud of. Our official language is Kannada, we have stalwarts in all fields, we have many unique items with the 'Mysooru' tag: Mysooru mallige, Peta, silk saree, painting, yoga, pak, beetel leaves and masale dose. We are the proud Mysoorians.
