About Our Place

The town has derived its name from the widely grown Bamboo in ancient days. The word Moodbidri comes from two Tulu words “MOODU” means East and “BIDIRE” means Bamboo. It is known as Jain Kashi due to the existence of executively carved 18 Jain Basadis, the magnificent 1000 pillar temple is the most prominent one for its architectural marvel. The town nestles amidst lush greenary and has 18 lakes among which “Kadalakere” has been developed as Bird Sanctuary. The cashew Industry is flourishing here and delicious pineapple is grown in abundance. Recently Moodbidri has developed as the Educational Hub of South India. The people have set an example of Communal Harmony and Peace.

About Club

The Innerwheel Club of Moodbidri was inaugurated on 10th August 1992 and received its charter on 1st March 1993. The club has till date hosted 2 District Assemblies , 2 District Rallies and 1 District Conference and will also be hosting the next District Assembly in 2022-23. The highlight of Decenary year celebrations was the construction of the Bus stop “ Neralu” . Mrs Shalini Nayak who was the charter president became District Chairman in 2008-09. The club celebrated its Silver Jubliee in the year 2018 under the leadership of Mrs Jayashree Shetty with innumerable meaningful projects and the construction of another Bus Stop and a Beautiful Innerwheel Circle.

The club which had a huge band of 51 charter members , today has about 45 quality members who serve the community with total dedication. Through the 29 years of its existence the members under the leadership of a New leader every year have not only won the hearts of the people of Moodbidri with their commendable service but have also carved a niche for themselves in Innerwheel District 318.
