Mammogram is an X-ray picture of the breast, to examine the human breast for diagnosis and screening. The goal of mammography is the early detection of breast cancer. Mammography screening is recommended after the age of 40.
Mammography can detect cancer early when it’s most treatable and can be treated less invasively (thereby helping to preserve quality of life). Breast Cancer death rate has dropped by 30% compared to previous 50 years. A study published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention shows mammography screening cuts the risk of dying from breast cancer nearly in half.
